In 2019 Greenwood United Methodist Church built and installed the largest Hauptwerk organ in the state of Indiana, and one of the largest in the world. The 4-Manual organ contains more than 2 Terabytes of raw, uncompressed audio samples from more than 20 different pipe organs across the globe. The audio is output through 56 discrete audio channels, with a combined total of around 20,000W of amplifier power, making for an instrument that possess the ability to, quite literally, shake the building, and subsequently handle the full frequency (16Hz to 21kHz) and dynamic range of the original pipe organs it emulates.
The instrument was designed and built by our current Director of Music, Drew Worthen, with generous support and help from the congregation. The organ has drawn significant interest worldwide for its very unique capabilities of playing literally all organ repertoire, its authenticity to detail, and its remarkably modest budget.
The organ can be heard every Sunday morning and is frequently featured in concerts and recitals. We hope you'll join us for a service, either in person, or online. Please visit our events page or consider joining our mailing list to be notified of upcoming concerts and events.
